Letters To Our Sons: April

Well, here we are again. And spring’s work is underway. It is at once wonderful and painful.

Portrait. Boy. Black and White.

Portrait. Siblings. Laughter. Black and White.

It is hard for me to write a letter to you, within the context of this image-based project, and not make mention of your sister, who is your co-star in so many of the photographs I capture. This might not be the case if you weren’t equally adept at cracking each other up. The camera comes out, and, with Pavlovian reliability, so do the poo-poo jokes.
I want you so many things for you. But it occurs to me that one day you may want other things. I hope I have the wisdom to accept you who for you are and for what you want. It may not always be how I would have hoped or imagined.
