We are prepping our overgrown backyard for the summer promise of leafy greens, rows of mint, cilantro, and parsley, and towering tomato plants. Mr Patton and I have a disagreement about whether or not to get a bocce set because our yard is too short for a proper game of horseshoes. He says bocce is a little too twee in a hipster-precious kind of way. It may well be, but it also makes for a lovely time when the grill is fired up. Plus, the kids will love it. I tell him we’ll just call it petanque instead. C’est bon!
Our summer garden plans include our first ever family outing to the Home Depot, followed the next day by an afternoon of tree pruning and readying planters for our front stoop. Spring is here, and we couldn’t be more pleased.
